Needless to say, the trip was quite cold. My waterproof boots eventually got soaked from the 14 mile hike over a pass with knee-deep snow. Each morning it was necessary to forcefully pry my frozen leather boots open and cram my feet into them. But the days warmed up and were wonderful: lazing around camp, taking in the views, scouting out potential scenes to shoot. Just being alone, but not in the bad feels sort of way.
When planning this trip I fully expected more of an autumn experience but a freak storm changed that. If I had gone a week later the snow would have been gone and the tundra grasses would have been blazing red.
