You can't do mirrorless without a very fast processor, so in 2008 that equated to 800X600 viewfinder on G1. Not bad, but not great, and its 2008, not 2000. Your claim that it could have been done in early 2000 is simply... nonsense.
Red came out with their One camera in 2008 shooting 4k raw. And you should check the price of it at the time.
