>Cumberland-Elkhorn Coal & Coke at Combs, KY on the L&N's EK Subdivision. Location here was called "Lennut" which was just "Tunnel" spelled backwards. The Hazard Tunnel was just to the right in this picture so a pretty accurate assignment. This loadout replaced an older tipple here in 1985. First operations here were by the Daniel Boone Coal Company in 1926 which gave way to several different tipple designs over the years operated by at least 10 different operators. Adams Construction had a second little loadout just out of sight to the left during the 1980's as well but it was just a simple coal chute. Here's a ground level view from the 1990's just before it was removed.
