>>3726912It's more tasteless to pretend people didn't fight for what they fought for and to mask it as "conscription" so you can feel morally superior in a different era entirely.
The fact that the actual Confederate Veteran graves all feature both flags while the civilian burials often have only Confederate flags because they're representative not of veterans but of "Lost Cause" culture is far more interesting, visually and culturally, than "BAD SYMBOLS BAD I JUDGE NOW"
Leave it to brainlets like you and powerful imagery would not exist in your neutered world.
I don't shoot confederate flags and memorabilia because I think the cause was just, quite the opposite actually; I'm fascinated by them because I know enough about history to know the simplistic view that the North vanquished the South and that was that is mere myth-making.
The reality of the top 1% of Southerners surviving the war economically and carrying out the goals of the Knights of the Golden Circle through economic rather than military colonization under the American flag and the US dollar sign is much darker than anyone will ever learn when they're taught the simplified notion that the defeat of the confederate middle class signaled the end of Southward-facing Manifest Destiny.
The Confederacy lost the battle but their elites won the economy. Everything you think you know is a sham. The British didn't initially support the Confederacy only because they hated the Union, but because the movements of the KOGC and their goals of Empire in the Gulf of Mexico were well known and supported by the crown.
