I won't say pixel size is always and totally irrelevant. Digital night vision CMOS sensors (real ones, not toys on Amazon) utilize large pixel sizes. The tiny e-noise differences have some relevance at six-figure ISOs. But they are tiny and irrelevant for sane still photography ISOs. It's just not the dominate factor. And going back to OP, you should NOT expect the R10 to be significantly better at high ISO than the R7.
