I'm going to Japan soon, and want to film a short (~15 minute) video for myself. But the thing is, I have no idea how to pull it off. The only time I've ever filmed something seriously is in university and it was using a proper multi-thousand dollar film camera with a group of other students for an assignment. While in Japan I'll be by myself, and using a DSLR camera. And it's not a great one either, it's a Canon 1300D, which has been good to me with photography so far but I have no idea how it'll fare with video. I also don't even know what kind of lens I'd need for video.
Basically, I want my video to look like this guy's, because I think that the cinematography in here is absolutely stunning. I also want the quality to be close, I know that it'll never be on the same level because his equipment is probably more expensive than I could ever afford, but still. Especially the night shots of the skyline, I want to know how to do that.

Please help.
