I can understand that this might not be for everyone and that you might enjoy roaming the streets with just pictures in mind, but I enjoy a more metaphysical approach.
Currently I'm saving for On Photography by David Campany. I browsed through it once in a book store and think that it could be a comfy, non pretentious starting point. (Pic related)
I already own Failed Images by Ernst van Alphen and it had a strong influence in both my understanding of photography, as well as my pictures.
