When comparing commercial buildings it's a different story, but residential? One car crashing into the corner of your house can destroy the entire thing if it's brick while a wood frame house will often not even need the upper floor repaired. Remember, compression structures use gravity for stability. Wood doesn't. Even "stone" houses younger than 90 years are just cladding.
