pic attached is a dslr scan on the left, epson 4990 on the right. (Sony A7 with sigma 50mm f2.8 macro lens, single photo for the whole portra 160 645 shot, the epson was the best I could get out of it from 3 years of practice with it, epson scan very carefully setup gave the best results)
There's more detail, more colour depth, no nasty banding and the whole scan process takes 1/10th of a second
