And the assertion was that the difference is difficult to see in "real world usage", which is different from "in high ISO usage" for most people*. The higher the ISO goes, the clearer the difference is. But if you're down at ISO 800 and below, you'll be hard pressed to notice any difference unless you peep in to 100%.
* (Although, that being said, not for me--I do most of my shooting north of ISO3200, and it's the main reason I have a full frame DSLR. But I'm not most people)
