Like the whole idea of a kit lens is its good its sharp its decent it does everthing decently. I have yet to find or use a kit lens I have completely saw no merit for. Now some kit lenses of yester year like the 28-70's that pentax gave with their last gasp film cameras in the 200's are bad but by and large they are good.

a lens baby would be worse optically and technicaly in everyway to a kit lens. It might allow some lens effects and some of them might be faster but thats about it.
