Most normie people will see a small kinda camera with a small lens, and won't think anything of it.
Some anon posted a picture of a Nikon Z6 with a pancake lens, but if you did take the 35mm f/1.8 lens, it's a great deal still larger than the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 I use.
At big public events, a smaller camera looks kinda friendly. Helps I'm not a man, but like, smile a little at someone and hold a camera up, and you'll see plenty of strangers hold up their placards or pose in an interesting outfit. It's nice, and I guess it's the difference between being seen as a harmless hobbyist, and the hated paparazzi.
