I took the liberty to do a bit of editing on your shot very simply and quickly, maybe it can be useful to you, pic related
Color were too saturated, the black were too deep and the shot over all needed some light tone adjustment. Nice is washed out by the sun with dramatic bluish shadows and your other shot gets that more correctly. But this particular picture was taken without direct light anyway.
The hue was not right either, the blue of the sky tends to verge more on purple than green in this part of France. Framing is also was little bit weak and too talkative not adding much to the picture. Last thing: you had pretty bad chromatic aberrations something in the digital developing must be wrong.
