This year I'm planning to make a big investment into equipment.
Been saving for about a year.
>Sony A7IV + Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 g2
To be used for paid work, making films, and when I want to carry a dedicated camera around.
I've already done some paid work but it ended up slightly mediocre as I was using borrowed equipment which was unfortunately micro four thirds.
Other option I considered was the Panasonic S5IIX as that has some amazing video features.
Nikon Zf was also an option, but going with that route would end up costing a lot more overall.
>Fujifilm X100VI
Jacket pocket cam for carrying with me at all times.
I also considered the Ricoh GRIII, but the dust issue killed it for me + I wanted a built in flash and at least the idea of weather sealing.
>Leica M4 + Voigtlander 35mm f1.4
Forever camera, to be passed down to my great grandchildren.
No real practical purpose, so kind of indulgent, but I like the idea of a purely mechanical device that can be repaired ad infinitum.
I also will be getting the equipment to scan and develop film at home.
What do you Anons think? Any suggestions or changes you'd make?
I'm also trying to figure out what to do next with my life, I'm 21 and have just completed a software engineering degree. I've been considering studying filmmaking, but the course I'd do is 4 years, and that feels like a long time to be in one place. My other option is to get a job in Berlin, which I feel would be a wonderful city to live and take pictures in.
