It's been a while since we've done some film vs. digital shitposting. By accident I shot 2 very similar snapshits with both film and digital, so I thought I'd share.
Digital: a6000, ISO100, Lens Turbo 2, Minolta MD 50/1.4 @ f5.6, Capture One 10.
Film: Minolta XD-11, Minolta MD 50/1.4@ f5.6, Kodak Ultramax 400, self developed in Kodak Flexicolor chems, scanned with a6000 and Micro-Nikkor 55/3.5 @ f8, hand inverted in Capture One 10.
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to make any claims as to which is superior. I shoot both film and digital and will continue to do so.
My takeaway: At web sized resolutions, the differences in detail are negligible. Ultramax 400 did better than I would have expected vs a6000 at ISO 100. When printing large or cropping heavily, the a6000 pulls ahead by a substantial margin. The film handles the specular highlights much more gracefully. The digital workflow is far easier. But I enjoy playing with chemicals and inverting/processing.
