If you're editing 1k pictures (even worse if you have a set time limit) in a professional setting then yeah it's 100% acceptable. Not being able to explain your editing process is somewhat embarrassing though. That being said, a preset can't take a picture for you.
If you truly feel bad about it then make your own situational presets (make them stack-able too while you're at it) which allow for certain degree of customization after they're applied. This way you can keep a consistent style while getting a lot of work done.
