>>3694522>The only 4k scans that actually look crisp are 65mm ones like 2001...Two reasons for that. They're one of the very rare films scanned into 4k. They scanned most for 1080p. Even today Criterion scans most of their films into 2k max. Only reason being time and costs! You can imagine what harm this is doing to future generations. This brings us to second point. Preservations. Film degrades with time, some more than other. Eventually all will be lost, and you can only pull as much from old film as it is. Hitchcock's colour films are notoriously damaged, yet even them offer unrivalled picture quality.
