>>3206410It really applies more to drum scans, but I found ways to very subtly raise the shadows that a flatbed scanner just can't really do without showing terrible noise and banding. It's just an additional shadows luminosity mask, but I change the contrast of the mask to where it's really only adjusting the deepest of shadows. That's where you can really fine-tune the true black point and make sure it doesn't have any color casts, then lighten it slightly to reduce the over-the-top contrast look to the shadow tones.
