Either you flail around hopelessly at sub 1k, wondering why you're not getting traction, or you pay big money for accounts to share your material hoping for organic followers, or you run a bot for a fraction of the price and slowly gain followers.
I bought mine for $100, no subscription, I have it for life to use as much as I want, super targeted to people who will like my stuff, and I just have it running 24/7 in a spare room on an old imac. It took me from 4k to 14k in like 8 months. No ragrets.
