We can't control the lights. So we need to find something that stands out from the rest of the lights and then arrange ourselves to catch its best shape. I guess.
Your photo kind of works like a happy accident. Everything is too bright and awful to look at except for your subject and the tree laying on it. So everybody looks at that, just like you intended. it's a great image. "composition" is only useful to make certain parts of the photo interesting, like we compose a song or a poem to lead into the next movement or stranza.
