i stand on the same spot every weekend. Since 2012 i have probably only moved 20m or so to better 'spots' , and over the last few years i probably stand on the same spot to within 1m.
...also the suitcase rummage markets a few hundred metres away from the aforementioned spot.
Iv'e been doijg it long enough that the local people tend to know who i am, so I get stalkers/police far less often, and as each new group of fash-kids come and go they eventually get shot, find oh-hi and follow me on the social media of the day. Currently thats insta.
And yeah, i just shoot whoever catches my eye. Mostly thats style/shiny/pattern/colour related, but beautiful people are easy mode photos, and all photogs love easy mode.
Stylish people generally like being photographed, and young people all want their 15 minutes of internet fame with their mates telling them they are cool/gorgeous/etc. Girls in particular.
After A while you kind of get to know people, so they give you better opportunities to shoot them. Years prior id often have groups of people standing around talking. Currently I rarely even say hello to anyone, and might know a few insta names if anyting.. so evidently the scene and feel of it changes radically over time.
The group in this shot I dont think i have ever seen before, but most likely they have friends on insta whos photos they have seen, and now they figure they will come and be seen too. I dont know, nobody tells me anyhting any more.

Always holding the camera portrait orientation means subjects can see half your face, s I just try to remember to smile big when i'm looking at them....and like i say, lots of people know who i am and when im doing before i ever see them the first time.
according the the script i wrote to tell me this:
161 jpg / 715 dng = 22% keeper
so iirc this wasnt the first pass of them going by... i toss a lot of photos
