I learned a cool trick for buildings and landscapes that night while doing 30 sec exposures.
line your camera up in the same direction that clouds are moving (I don't think it matters if the clouds are moving toward you or away from you). Then you take a long exposure. The clouds will become streaks on your image that form leading lines and make the composition pop. pic related (not my image) illustrates the concept.
