The overall resolution advantage with larger sensor-lens combinations allows for more exposure settings that still produce acceptable results. With smaller sensors, same distance and smaller focal length, the smaller physical aperture forces a larger aperture, but at the price that the resolving power of the lens already becomes insufficient early here. The RX100 Va at ISO 125, 8.8mm, f/4 improves a lot compared to other settings. This would be equivalent in noise and dof with full-frame ISO 125, 24mm, f/10.8. The attached image suffers at the image edge due to the tele end. It wouldn't with fullframe ISO 125, 70mm, f/11, although lens resolution would top somewhere at aperture f/5.6 to f/7.1
In the shot in the example, a weaker image edge doesn't matter. It's just to show that even at this small resolution, there's a noticeable difference from the edge to the image center. What I wanted to highlight, I'm hesitant to use the RX100 for valuable shots where I want to be beyond optimal settings.
