>>3031820>>3031730>Why? If it works it works you mong.it was mint with gummed up oil and shitty shutter times, but because it had the Leica L wax stamp it was worth more to the collector not working than working. Having it serviced and working dropped it from mint to near mint because they had to break the L wax seal.
to the collectors here in town who know what camera I bought and had serviced, I committed a sin. I actually payed above market value to keep it out of a collection and to make sure it was used.
>you could have a bunch of money left over to buy filmprice of film is not an issue, this is the current state of my film fridge. I don`t have a lot of 35 right now because I am really into 4x5. you can also save a LOT of money buying in bulk, you can sometimes get 50-70% off retail by buying 100+ rolls directly from a distributor.
>>3031716why wouldn`t I as pristine as I can for as long as I can? would you buy a nice car (doesnt have to be a super car or even sports car) and never wash it, never pay attention to chips in the paint? I use my leica, I don`t abuse it even though I know it can take it, and I pay attention to what I do to her.
I worked a few hundred hours overtime the year I bought my leica gear and dont really give a shit about the money. though had I more I might have got an MP instead of overhauling the M3 and not been able to afford film as you mentioned.
the M3 was partially purchased from an estate for sentimental reasons which I do not wish to go into here
