Imagine for a second owning at least a single imaging device that is not wirelessly connected to a government botnet 24/7 and running proprietary software that checks every image you take "in case of child porn". A single imaging device that instantly takes images you can then get on your own computer running secure free software without anything but a commonly available cable with an indefinite service life, or just swapping a memory card around.
All smartphones running unmodified software can also update their own software without your consent, and modern networks can refuse service to ones running non-authorized operating systems. AFTER, of course, requiring a fully functional smartphone for modern life (if you want to drive anywhere or spend money or...)
It only takes about 2 years of civil unrest iran style for this to turn into a "if you take a picture of the police beating someone to death for resisting the new regime's bullshit, you are instantly prosecuted for treason" situation. An "always-on cameras and microphones originally meant for unlocking phones telling the CIA who is in a room with you so draft-dodgers and so-called rebels have less of a chance at escaping" situation.
And don't even think of shooting film. Those supplies are finite and would be taken away.
You may say "take your meds, schizo" but your country is not immune to becoming a dystopia like russia, iran, or afghanistan just because you're a little paler and have nicer guns.
