>>3367127That's really curious. I've a decent collection of old photography books. And I came out of them with exact opposite view. There is some dirt in them, thing that gives me hope, but then some stuff that blows me away just on a mere glance. These guys seriously knew composition, be it portrait or landscape. Even though what's left of the shots today is often ruined by time, you can see serious skill and attention to detail.
