He once mentioned - a while after leaving DRTV, that he wanted his channel to take a different route and 'maybe' step away from creating exclusively photography-related videos. He probably realized that he's got no other chance to be successful on YT so he kept on making videos about cameras and photography.
DRTV only was successful because of the scripted videos. They had a good team back then.
