>>3240031There are lots of other photographers that seek out similar subjects/compositions/motifs. I don't really know what the proper art vocabulary for it is but its derivative is very popular with 20-ish Instagram phone photographers. Something about aimlessly wandering around cities and towns finding sometimes ironic, kind of humorous, yet almost banal and very simple photographs is a fun activity. Eggleston, Steven Shore, etc. etc. I think the direct flash isn't what "makes" the look but it definitely highlights the pedestrian-ness of the scenes. Something about the harsh artificial light with the naturally forming scenes he finds is interesting.
