But even his "bad art" is more than him pressing a button. He's creating the photograph rather than just taking it. He takes the models to his studio, shapes the light in his own style, provides them with props, clothing, directing, depending on the shoot. He's not some passive snapper. Therefore even if you think his art sucks, it's art as opposed to just pointing his camera in some direction and pressing the shutter release at stuff along the way hoping some will turn out to be good looking.
