EVERYONE used to make near perfect lenses because THEY HAD TO, nowadays they do NOT have to, they can just throw 10-20 pieces of glass in a machine to make 1 lens, then repeat that 500,000 times and voila! they only check for sharpness and aberration performance and call it done! all while boasting about how good their lenses are... its bullshit.
also, price has nothing to do with how good a lens performs, its the manufacturing process and how precise the glass was made to perform that matters. thats exactly why you have $300-$500 lenses from the likes of zhongyi, asahi optics and so on, that perform on par or better than their zeiss or leica counterparts. thats also why i replaced my 35mm zeiss with a cheap $300 mitakon. i mean, mitakon makes SUPER CHEAP and SUPER GOOD glass, they dont mass manufacture they actually try to make good lenses for cheap price and they actually have top notch quality control of their products. their lenses are so cheap, yet so good that they actually make lenses for Leica, Phase One and Hasselblad systems AND PEOPLE BUY THEM! Including myself! you know what they DO NOT BUY? a fucking sigma samyang or tamron lens!
its not about zeiss and leica vs. sigma and samyang
its about good lenses+reputation vs shit lenses+good marketing.
also, look at pic rel. its shot on a 1970's hasselblad camera and a 1950's zeiss lens. its fucking overexposed to hell and you can still see the superior image quality aka. the magical thing you idiotically call 3d pop! on an almost 100 year old lens and a fucking film camera! AND i can redo that same shot with a $300 mitakon for sony E mount or the same $300 mitakon lens for hasselblad X mount! but guess who cant make an image like this?! a fucking modern day 2023 sigma lens!
