Larger birds will not get close enough for me to focus and it feels slow even at f4. Still, the glass is great if you can find a good one and if your subject will let you get close and will sit still for a second, you can pop off good shots.
This one was shot with an even cheaper PENTAX-F 80-200mm F4.7-5.6, one of the first mass-market AF lenses.
