When you're /out/ or have small hands, a compact body makes sense.
When you're at an event, in a studio or have large hands, a larger body makes more sense.
For my small hands (glove size small), the EOS-1DX sized body doesn't realy make sense as it is too large.
I tried it out once and couldn't grip it properly as the grip was too large for me to grip it and reach the buttons.
Canons compact DSLR bodies however fit my hands pretty well.
However the grip on the right is IMHO nessesary for good ergonomics, wich is something I realy miss in many mirrorless cameras.
I would realy like to try the EOS M50 because of that, the grip seems to have just the right size for me.
(Not arguing for or against certain brands though, I just have tried out more Canons than other brands and own a Canon)
