Main reason I replied, but since this is a photography board I'll state that I've noticed this trend on IG too. I even fell for it a bit when I started shooting. Thought I could become a silhouette master or some shit. Then I realized, the pics I initially took that turned out to be great silhouettes were astoundingly better than when I tried to find them. Got tired of crushing blacks on purpose and decided to start experimenting again.
Photography is such a weird form of art. Unlike a painting, which takes time to dedicate, a photo can be taken in less than a second.
