I feel like there are two prongs of music and art (which photography should aim to be if it's not sports or product photography).
One is enjoying the technical side of things: technique, production, sharpness... Like those incredible artists that can draw a photo-realistic scene with a pencil or the fred with a razorsharp, $4000 camera. Or appreciating a musical band for their production quality.
The other is the artistic side: message, expression and feeling.
In photography, the first one can be bought with the US Dollar which is why lots of people spend so much on gear and why people talk endlessly on the internet about lenses and pixels yet don't own a single photobook. The second one can be learned but it's much harder especially in photography where generally you don't 100% control the scene.
Pic related; true art.
