In need of some advice.
Alright. So I happened to stumble across this 300-800mm at a garage sale (not sure if it was deceased estate, everything was sold in boxes).
Anyway I saw the sigma symbol, in its old original carry case and bought it upon opening and seeing it was the legit thing $165 cash for the lot among with other stuff.
It was old, and probably the last time it was used was well over a decade ago.
It doesnt work with my 5d3, reading err-01, but works with my 550d only for one photo before reading a communication error to the lens
I spoke with a mate who said it needed a software update (confirming it hasn't been used for since the early 2000's)
Apart from some cosmetic wear, It still takes -fairly- sharp and usable images. Problem is that there is a small bit of fungal growth on the lens and some of the internal elements (ill provide pics tomorrow).
Does anyone know how much does it cost (roughly) to get serviced and cleaned? I can still get some life out of it as it is (maybe a year or two) before getting it serviced in Japan which will probs be a fuckload to get it overhauled. (Otherwise ill use it as a vase lmao)
What figures would I be looking at?
