I want to know how to post process photos with strong back lighting.
I can't seem to get it right. When I see photos, particularly portraits, shot with strong backlight, it gets this nice soft and light background with a strong silhouette around the subject.
Whenever I do it, it seems to get razor sharp instead, and even if I try HDR, the background gets WAY blown out! I'm guessing you have to either underexpose, or even use flash, but doesn't that take away contrast or create really harsh lighting on the subject?
Maybe this potentially insanely stupid question has as much to do with the actual shooting as the post processing, but I'd appreciate an answer.
