I didn't get the appeal of art before either. Actually, I now do even less. Now the only thing that matters to me is composition.
Content doesn't matter anymore. Everything has already been done. Nothing is important or """shocking""" any more. Actually, nothing ever was important, ever. Not even composition. It just makes it more pleasing to the watcher.
