In reality the relation between chroma and lightness for maximum saturation varies between hues, but the scale is uniformized when transformed into sRGB so when you change the hue, the saturation of each segment seems to vary a lot. I remember I once saw a site in which they compared the systems using a pic of a turtle as example but don't remember where it was.
