I'm not saying they shoot wide open, but there's a different FoV from the television video that's usually shot with 1 inch.
Also there's nothing wrong with the digital look and the ones who attempt to emulate the film look with digital are the ones who get the shitty results. If you want the film look, either go film or go home.
Few have truly mastered the digital look, and one of them is Refn.
