It's workable, I'd say. It's fast enough for most moving insects as long as they're big enough, but a lot of things would be easier at 1/250
The biggest limitation is AF though: AF+MF is needed for fine adjustments, but outside of that, the camera will try to refocus and give priority to focus, not release (and then miss, of course)
Manual mode on the 80 mm is good for static subjects against busy backgrounds but too slow for chasing moving bugs
