The aquarium glass or the front lens glass?
I found that with my 70-300mm lens, the extension rings allowed me several feet of working minimum distance. That's great for insects that want to run/fly off. Instead of being inches from them, I'm a few feet from them.
Here's an example. I think there's 68mm of extension tubes on this one, I don't remember exactly. But, I was like 4-6 feet away from the subject with the 70-300mm lens.
