>>3910756here's a trial I've made in the past few days, trying a sigma 1.8.
>>3910749>Even when all is in focus the perception of depth is better the bigger the sensor is.the perception or the actual renderization? because I don't think the sensor size really matters in this case.
>Also light gathering ability & s/n ratios improve.this for sure, but it's not like current aps-c or even phone sensors are absolute trash in these regards.
>>3910977I never commented about a phone in a prepaid line being free, what I'm saying is that a phone will do many things and fit in your pocket AND take very good pictures, while a camera is only capable of being a camera, while being way bigger, heavier, and in many cases, more expensive.
>but a ricoh is cheaper and a phone is not freebeyond the point.
>>3911065Coonsumerism cope.
>>3910874Finally, a decent point. While I agree with this, I believe the main thing is: professionals take these pictures. A professional photographer will be able to take excellent shots with a phone, and that's what the computational side is trying to emulate, a pro "look". iPhone 12 Pro Max pictures are nothing but outstanding once you consider it's all made by a phone that fits a pocket and will do the editing, the posting and most other tasks you'd need it to.
>>3910541My current phone shoots raw files which I can later edit, and frankly, I can get them to look pretty good if i took the time to snap them. The main drawback currently is low light performance.
