No, film is not better and will never be better again, except for using MF film for motion pictures. The truly random arrangement of grains, in combination with playing frames as a motion picture, creates the illusion are significantly more detail than a single frame could ever capture. There's no way even 8k cinema cameras are really competing with that, since imax film is roughly equivalent to 8k as a still and benefits from the true random dithering effect.
