How much better is the 7D Mark II than the original 7D?
I have a 50D and it's pretty good, but the auto ISO behavior is weird and not what I prefer. When I'm in manual mode, setting the ISO to auto will just result in the camera keeping the ISO at 400, which isn't useful and often ends up underexposing photos. I also find myself running up against the buffer pretty often, which is about 12 shots deep, but shooting birds in flight, it can fill up pretty quickly.
Question is, should I pick up an original 7D for ~$350, or should I get a 7D Mark II for ~$900? How much more capable is the Mark II - how many more stops of high ISO noise equivalence will it give me and are the other photographic features worth having now? It would be useful to be able to shoot at ISO 1000 and have the details still look pretty good - the 50D is almost at that point, but not quite as good as I'd like and I'm not sure the 7D is much better. Another thing I'm worried about is that I'll pay $900 for a used 7DII now, then the Mark III will come out in a month, I'll want one, and the value of my 7DII will nosedive shortly thereafter.
