With film, you didn't know what your photos would look like until they were developed, days or weeks later.

And no, Leica still isn't the norm here. You're going to find that most people who aren't literally media photographers tend to use either old APS-C DSLRs from Nikon or Canon, or they use Fujifilm.
Olympus is incredibly niche, and Panasonic seems more associated with video (which is earned).
But even among the photographers who make a living out of taking photos, they're still predominantly still using Nikon and Canon DSLRs.
The only people you'll see using Sony cameras seems to be Japanese and Chinese tourists though. I do wonder why that is.
Pic rel is at an event in Germany, and the guy in the shot is smiling for the shot. Sure the image is 1° off slant, but taking a quick shot and moving on feels much more like just being there with a camera ready to press the shutter is all the more vital.
