My great great grandmother was Mohawk. This was not uncovered until the 1970s when my grandfather inherited a box of family heirlooms and there was all this detail about the forgotten family history and tons of old tin types and daguerreotypes.
this drove my grandmother fucking insane because she was racist and now everyone in the family except her was part Mohawk.
aaaaanyway she's in a bunch of these photos from like the 1870s/1880s and I couldn't wait to inherit all that stuff. when my grandfather died she threw all of it out so nobody would ever get their hands it. all the documents, all the letters, all the photos. fucking psychopath.
