>>2649472yeah, the stuff you mentioned about the grain/resolution is pretty significant and means that half-frame cameras lend themselves a lot better to some aesthetics than to others. i exclusively shoot with half frame cameras and I think they're fantastic for ``street'' work etc, but you have to be pretty deliberate in how you use them so that their unique characteristics help you rather than hurt you. this picture is a pretty good illustration of how apparent the half frame "look" can be, and was taken with my 30mm f/2.8 Pen S which I believe has a similar shutter to the one in the EES-2.
also worth noting that the auto exposure in that camera is powered by a selenium meter which, depending on how it was stored, degrades over time and could very easily be completely useless now that almost a half-century has passed.
still worth investing $10 and a roll of film to try it out though imo, I think the Pen series of cameras includes some of the most well-built and fun to use compacts ever made.
