Take Sony, which has all of picrel, plus 10 more video oriented profiles, which can be used for stills and allow direct control of: black level, gamma, knee, saturation, color phase, color depth, and detail (all with more granular adjustments too).
Film sims are film-inspired bases + marketing + hype for people that don't want to post process.
