>>3959791FYI depending on your monitor these crops from TDP are like looking at a 90" enlargement.
As to trying to directly compare the two: TDP doesn't bother with m43 and Optical Limits does the stupid "my walk around sample shots" game on their final page which sucks because it's hard or impossible to find comparable photos for a side by side. All but one of the Olympus shots are stopped down to f/7.1, while all but one of the Canon shots are shallow DoF wide aperture shots. And subject matter is all over the place. With wide open shallow DoF shots for Canon it's hard to compare an edge or corner.
I grabbed foliage sections from an f/8 Canon and f/7.1 Olympus shot. The Canon crop is further into a corner, Olympus is mid-frame to mid-edge. Olympus is scaled up (Preserve Details 2.0, no NR) for equal footing.
The Canon is absolutely sharper. That's not even a question. In a larger print it would be apparent. Honestly the m43 sample...at f/7.1...reminds me of what I used to get with APS-C over a decade ago.
Findings are findings. A mft lens has to be twice as sharp on a MTF test just to match a FF system.
