The government doesn't make you buy a photography degree to work as a photographer so maybe the money would be better spent upgrading your rig/glass and the time better spent working under a pro photographer. But maybe if your not an independent learner; photography school is a good choice. I know FroKnowsPhoto Jared Polin went to photo school and it seemed to work out pretty well for him.
Personality with all the internet and book knowledge available paying for college seems like a ripoff and waste of time.
